Why a Catholic Funeral?
‘A Catholic funeral is a service performed by the Christian community for the benefit of the dead. It expresses the sorrow of the survivors, yet it always has a Paschal Character. Ultimately, we die in Christ so as to celebrate with Him the feast of the Resurrection.’ Catechism of the Catholic Church- Reference [1686-1690]
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
How To Organise
Upon the death of a loved one, family members or an individual make contact with their undertaker of choice. The undertaker will then make contact with the priests of the parish on behalf of the family to make the necessary funeral arrangements.
- The Parish provides funeral booklets containing relevant Scripture readings and prayers that can be chosen for the liturgy
- Sacred Music can be chosen for the liturgy – singers and organists can be hired also for the funeral service via the Funeral Director. The Parish Organist is Ray Shortt 086 2423 448
